If you are using your bathtub for taking a sitz bath, make sure to clean it properly before and after use. You can also add additives such as Epsom Salts to get relief from pain. Follow these steps to take a sitz bath safely and properly:

  • Clean the bathtub by adding two tablespoons of bleaching agent with 1/2 gallon of water.
  • First, clean and wash the bathtub thoroughly. Then, add 3 to 4 inches of mildly warm water to the bathtub. Be careful not to make the water too hot, as it could cause burns or discomfort. You can test the temperature by placing a couple of drops on your wrist. Once you have a comfortable temperature, add the additives that your doctor recommended to add to the water.
  • Now, step into the bathtub and soak your anal area for 15 to 20 minutes in the water. You can bend your knees or, if possible, keep your legs outside the water.
  • When you are finished, gently dry your skin with a clean cotton towel. Avoid rubbing or scratching the anal area, as this may cause pain and discomfort.
  • After taking a sitz bath, make sure to clean the bathtub or the plastic kit.

2. Triphala Guggul

Due to its analgetic and anti-constipation properties, Triphala Guggul has been used for healing anal fissures. Triphala Guggul is an Ayurvedic herb, and it is being used for the treatment of constipation & anal fissures for centuries. This herb can also soften stool and prevent infection.
